FAQ

Good questions

How long does it take?

Allow about 3 weeks from order to delivery for a printed book. This estimate includes 5 days to create your custom book, followed by Lulu’s printing and standard Mail delivery. Lulu normally prints in 3–5 business days; printing and Mail delivery together take about 2 weeks.

Delivery dates are estimates, not guarantees. Holidays, busy periods, and carrier delays can take longer, especially outside the continental US. Please contact us before ordering if your gift needs to arrive by a particular date.

Printable PDFs are delivered by email after your custom book is finished and do not need printing or shipping time.

Can the book be a surprise?

Yes. You can ship it straight to the person it is for, and turn on the “Don't look ahead” opening page so they color one page at a time until the reveal.

What photos work best?

Clear, well-lit photos where faces are easy to see. One good photo of each person, pet, and favorite toy is plenty. More angles help.

Who writes the story?

You give us the idea and the details, we write it. If you already have words you want on a page, add them and we will use them.

What does the printed book look like?

An 8.5 × 11-inch paperback with a full-color outside cover and black-and-white coloring pages inside. Each illustrated page has a blank back. Crayons and colored pencils are a good starting point; test markers first and place a spare sheet beneath the page you are coloring.

Are my photos private?

Your photos are only used to make your book and are never shared or posted without your permission.

Our story

Cadence and the Dream That Grew

Cadence was born with kidney problems and spent a lot of her childhood in doctors' offices and hospital rooms. She dreamed of becoming a doctor. When her health made that path hard, she kept doing what she had always loved: drawing and telling stories. This is how that turned into Ink Your Tale.
